Two PhDs, one mission: make AI work in production.

INTELLERCE LLC was founded in San Diego and is currently headquartered in Silicon Valley. The company was launched on the back of an NSF Small Business Innovation Research grant for AptStream, our AI-based video streaming platform.

Hamed Omidvar, Ph.D.

Dr. Omidvar is an enthusiastic research scientist and entrepreneur who obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2021 from the University of California San Diego (UCSD), where he became a Shannon Graduate Fellow in 2017 and was a UCSD Electrical and Computer Engineering Research Fellow during 2014–2015. His interests extend across disciplines — from the analysis of large-scale stochastic dynamical systems to artificial intelligence and optimal decision-making mechanisms. He currently serves as a Managing Member of INTELLERCE LLC and was the Principal Investigator of the NSF-funded project AptStream — an AI-based video streaming platform.

Vahideh Akhlaghi, Ph.D.

Dr. Akhlaghi is a passionate research scientist with a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California San Diego (UCSD). Her research interests span optimizing ubiquitous technologies using ML and AI algorithms, as well as optimizing the implementation of these algorithms on edge devices. She obtained her extensive research background through graduate research at UCSD and an internship at Microsoft Research. She currently serves as a Managing Member of INTELLERCE LLC and was the Co-Investigator of the NSF-funded project AptStream.

Origin story

NSF-backed. PhD-led. Built for production.

In August 2021, INTELLERCE LLC was awarded a National Science Foundation Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant of $256,000 to conduct R&D on AptStream — an AI-based video streaming platform that reduces the need for data centers and CDNs, and helps reduce network congestions for an improved viewer experience.

Since then, our work has expanded from research prototypes into production AI pipelines and HPC R&D for companies including Vimmerse (YC22), EXTROPOLIS, and Tenstorrent USA — a unicorn AI hardware company building next-generation AI/HPC accelerators. Today we operate as a small, capable team across R&D, AI/ML Ops, and fractional AI leadership — with a focused product portfolio: AptAI Studio, AptAgents, AptAI Voice, and FastVSR.
